Seminars for the week of November 9, 2009

Colloquium

Thursday, 3:30, in VinH 16

Professor David Nadler
of Northwestern University
will speak on
"Perspectives on D-modules"

D-modules are central objects in algebraic analysis, geometric representation theory, symplectic topology, and mathematical physics. I plan to survey various perspectives on their structure, including their origins as algebraic models of linear PDE, their appearance as branes in topological A- modules, and their interpretation as a categorification of cyclic homology. No prior acquaintance with D-modules will be assumed.
