

Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU)

Summer 2002 REU
Eligibility: Undergraduate students from
universities and colleges may apply.
Stipend: Each participant in the program will be
paid a stipend of (at least) $2,700 for an 8-week project. The dates
are now firm: 24 June - 16 Aug, 2002. Dorm room and meal-plan expenses
will be subtracted directly from student stipends. We will have
reserved a block of dormitory rooms as one easy and relatively
inexpensive choice for housing and meals.

- A letter indicating your interest in a particular project.
- Explanation of your mathematics background, specifically the
mathematics (and related) courses you've taken, the texts you used,
which parts you covered, and the grades you received. Please do also
explain any additional background relevant to the project you're
interested in.
- Two letters of recommendation from your mathematics teachers
to

Stipend: Each participant in the program will be
paid a stipend of (at least) $2,500 for an 8-week project, tentatively
4 June - 30 July, 2001. Room and board expenses will be paid for by
each student from their stipend. We will have reserved a block of
dormitory rooms as one easy and relatively inexpensive choice for
housing and meals.

Summer 2000 REU
In the summer of 2000 several undergraduate
students worked with faculty on research projects. Below are the
