

We offer a post-baccalaureate certificate entitled Fundamentals of Quantitative Finance (FQF). This is a program that can help you prepare for a Master of Financial Mathematics as it gives you a referesher on key mathematical concepts that are crucial to understanding the more advanced work done in traditional Master of Financial Mathematics (MFM) and Financial Engineering programs, including the Master of Financial Mathematics (MFM) program at the University of Minnesota's School of Mathematics. The FQF is a 14 credit certificate and has exactly four, three-credit, required courses:
All these courses are available locally and online, and students can complete this certificate without traveling to Minnesota. When filling out an application for FQF, Applicants who plan to complete FQF locally should select the "Fundamentals of Quantitative Finance - Certificate" option under the "Application Information". Applicants who plan to complete FQF online should select the "Fundamentals of Quantitative Finance - Distance - Certificate" option under the "Application Information".
Good performance in the certificate courses will be taken into consideration for admission into our MFM program.
A student who completes the FQF certificate and is admitted to our MFM program, can complete the MFM degree in one year, taking the following 4-credit courses (12 credits per semester)
