Abstract:
Recent decades have seen an explosion in the use and sophistication of statistical modeling in all industries. For example, generalized linear models (GLMs), a generalization of simple linear regression, are widely used in insurance. We will describe how these models are used in pricing personal auto and homeowners insurance. We will also provide information on statistical and actuarial careers at Travelers and in the insurance industry.
