Generalized Linear Models: A Closer Look at Statistical Modeling in Insurance

Abstract:

Generalized linear models (GLMs) have proliferated in the in the insurance industry, creating better answers to old questions, and also providing insights in previously unexplored areas. We'll go into some of the assumptions, math, and forms of GLMs, and also cover some common applications of GLMs in insurance. Information on statistical and actuarial careers at Travelers and in the insurance industry will also be discussed.
