The purpose of this talk is to acquaint the audience with the concepts ill-posedness and regularization. To do this, we consider a specific inverse problem: image deblurring. We attempt to regularize the solution to this problem, which is ill-posed, by using the singular value decomposition (SVD) of a matrix associated with the direct problem. To make the talk more self-contained and accessible to everybody, a good amount of time will be devoted to SVD itself.
