The problem of hybrid linear modeling is to estimate and segment an arrangement of affine subspaces embedded in a Euclidean space. My joint work with Prof. Lerman addresses this problem both theoretically and algorithmically. This talk will first introduce the basic idea of one type of approaches (multiway clustering) and then mention the challenges faced by any of such approaches. Afterwards, it presents our solutions to these issues, forming the SCC algorithm. Justification of this algorithm and some practical implementation issues will be discussed in the end.
