Undergraduate Math Club

Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU)

Several faculty members of the School of Mathematics, University of Minnesota, will sponsor summer REU programs for students majoring in mathematics. The program offers financial support to the participating students. Previous participants received approxiamtely $2500-$3000. Possible areas of research include mathematical biology, climate modeling, materials sciences, algebra, bio-informatics, differential equations, numerical analysis and geometry. Sponsors of REU programs include the following faculty members:

Carme Calderer Materials sciences and partial differential equations; mcc@math.umn.edu
Gilad Lerman Bio-informatics, analysis of large data sets and computational harmonic analysis; lerman@math.umn.edu
Richard McGehee Dynamical systems, data analysis, climate modeling; mcgehee@math.umn.edu
Peter Olver Image processing, mathematical physics, Lie groups and differential equations; olver@math.umn.edu
Hans Othmer Applied mathematics, mathematical biology, dynamical systems; othmer@math.umn.edu
Vic Reiner and Dennis Stanton Combinatorics
Cheri Shakiban Differential algebra, computer algebra, calculus of variations, fractal geometry, computer vision; shakiban@ima.umn.edu
