In Fall 2011 MATH 1271 Lec 050, I frequently gave in-lecture quizzes
and each quiz came with a large number of hints on each problem, so
that the scores were quite high on every quiz, for all students who
attended class on that day.  Thus the in-lecture quiz scores serve as
a good proxy for measuring attendance.

In the following table, the first column shows the in-lecture total
quiz score (normalized to be out of 100) for all of the 132 students
in the course who took the final exam. The second column shows, for
each student, their final exam letter grade.

High attendance is no guarantee of success (a 97.35% student got an
"F"), and low attendance is no guarantee of failure (the two lowest
percentages got "A"s), but there is a correlation.
