“Surgery on nullhomologous tori”

Abstract:
We will discuss the many ways that surgery on nullhomologous tori has been used to construct exotic smooth structures on 4-manifolds. We will also outline methods for finding nontrivial nullhomologous tori and and look at invariants for determining how useful they are.
