Predictive Simulation and Design of Materials by Quasicontinuum and Accelerated Dynamics Methods
postdoctoral position is available at the University of Minnesota to
participate in the development and analysis of a multiscale method for
the dynamics of materials with defects. This position is supported by
the Department of Energy and brings together researchers at the
University of Minnesota (Mitchell Luskin, Richard James, Ellad Tadmor)
and the Los Alamos National Laboratory (Art Voter, Danny Perez).
We seek candidates with strong backgrounds in continuum finite element methods, partial differential equations, stochastic methods, and/or molecular dynamics, although all strong candidates with an interest in this project will be seriously considered.
The preferred start date is during the summer of 2011, and the duration is three years. Applications will be reviewed starting Dec 1, and will remain open until the position is filled. The candidate will teach one semester course per year.
