Over the years, I have done research in fluid mechanics, elasticity, quantum mechanics, mathematical physics, differential geometry, classical invariant theory, computer vision, and geometric numerical methods. My text on Lie groups and differential equations was published in 1986, and has been translated into Russian, and published in China. I have also published a much-cited text on equivalence, invariants, and symmetry, and a student text on classical invariant theory. My wife, Cheri Shakiban, and I have recently published an undergraduate texts on applied linear algebra. I am in the process of writing a second volume, which will complete the general introduction to applied mathematics at the advanced undergraduate level.
