MATHEMATICAL EDUCATION.

I got my bachelor's degree in mathematics from the Facultad de Matematicas of the UNIVERSIDAD VERACRUZANA in Xalapa-Veracruz in 1993. After that I decided to move to Mexico City where I studied the master in applied mathematics at the Department of Mathematics of the Center of Research and Advanced Studies of the National Politecnic Institute CINVESTAV-IPN.

Now I am a graduate student in the Ph.D. program of applied mathematics with emphasis in Industrial Mathematics at the Math Department of the University of Minnesota. This program is administered in part by the Minnesota Center for Industrial Mathematics MCIM. My main interests are partial differential equations, mathematical modelling and the applications of numerical methods to electromagnetism and fluid dynamics.
My advisor is Fernando Reitich

My current research is the Runge-Kutta Discontinuous Galerkin Method for Maxwell equations. The main goals are: the numerical implementation of the RKDG to solve a 3D problem using unstructured meshes (tetrahedra) and p-refinement, modelling of absorbing boundary conditions and the parallel implementation.

These are some of courses that I have taken:

Major in Applied Mathematics:
Math 5463/4/5 The Mathematics of Industrial Problems.
Math 8401/2/3 Mathematical Modelling & Methods of Applied Mathematics.
Math 8550/1/2 Theory of Partial Differential Equations.
