Ophtima

An Optimization Based Progressive Lens Design Tool

Welcome to the Ophtima homepage! Ophtima as been licensed to Vision-Ease Lens. Read the press release.

Ophtima is a comprehensive, easy to use, progressive lens surface design software. Lens surfaces are designed using an optimization principle. A novel approach, based on linearization and representing the surface using special spline functions (patent pending) allows optical engineer to design a surface in seconds. The efficiency of the computation and the ease of use of the software provides the user with the possibility of exploring the design space, leading to unique designs.

The design process takes 3 steps. Step 1: Set up the regions where power and cylinder are to be controlled.

Step 2: Provide parameter values to the importance of each region and the add power information.

Step 3: Analyze and/or save output.

User support and further directed research or customization may be provided at a cost to licensed users.
