I have been informed by Stephen Dunham, General Counsel to the
University from the University Attorney Office, that all instructors
should read the following announcement to their classes during the 
first week of spring quarter. You should also have the students sign
their names to this page and return it to me.

The student assumes all risks and danger incidental to the pursuit of
learning, whether occurring prior to, during, or subsequent to, the actual
learning of ideas, including specifically (but not exclusively), the danger
of being injured by thrown books and thrown chalk, and agrees that
the University of Minnesota, The Board of Regents, faculty, and staff 
(including the President) are not liable for injuries resulting from 
such causes.
