Overview
This course offers a more in-depth concentration into integration techniques and applications. This is a skills-oriented course: you are required to remember the calculus, algebra and trigonometry you learned in previous courses.
Topics covered will include techniques and applications of integration, techniques for solving first order differential equations, study of parametric equations and the polar coordinate system, sequences and series, and very basic three dimensional vector calculus.
Dropping dates
The schedule for dropping deadlines could be found at the following site:
http://onestop.umn.edu/onestop/Calendars/Refund_and_Drop2FAdd_Deadlines/summer2008.html
Incomplete
These are given only on special circumstances in which the students have fulfilled all but a small portion of the work in the course, have a compelling reason for the incomplete and must have a prior written arrangement with the instructor before the end of the term as to how the incomplete will be removed.
Exams and Grading Policy
There will be 7 homeworks, 3 one-hour midterms, 1 two-hour midterm and 1 two-hour final exam. The final will be a common exam graded in common. It will NOT be multiple choice. The final counts for the 1/3rd of the student's grade. Yes, the grading will be CURVED. Generally, a student fails if his score is less than 1/2 the best score in the class. Of course, just a little better than half does not guarantee passing. The approximate formula is as follows:
Absence from Exams and Quizzes
There are no make up Exams. However, you may miss one of the first 3 scheduled exams.
Policy on Calculators
Only scientific calculators may be used in exams. A scientific calculator is one that can calculate the values of the standard algebraic and transcendental functions, but cannot display graphs of functions or do symbolic manipulations. In particular, graphing calculators are not allowed.

Lecture, Exams and Homework Schedule
Homeworks will be due on Mondays at the beginning of the class. There will be 3 midterms each on Monday between 2.30pm-3:20pm and 1 comprehensive midterm on Wednesday, August 8th, between 2:30pm-3:20pm. These homeworks and exams will cover the work done until the previous Friday.
