Wednesday, February 12, 3:30 PM, VinH 209 Ernie Kalnins, University of Waikato, Hamilton, New Zealand Title: Classical and quantum constants of the motion (explicit techniques) Abstract: We discuss the explicit construction of all classical constants of the motion, particularly those polynomial in the momenta, for Hamiltonians of the form H+V on an n-dimensional Riemannian manifold. Of special interest is the case where the Hamilton-Jacobi equation is known to additively separate in some coordinate system. The basic ideas of the construction extend to the quantum mechanical realm.
