Abstract
This talk discusses some recent developments in 3D elastic and viscoelastic imaging using full waveform tomography. It is shown that, for "simple" background media, the latter task could be accomplished without customary domain discretization and non-linear minimization. The techniques described include boundary-only imaging, topological sensitivity and linear sampling methods. Applications of the methodology to both rapid seismic surveying and medical diagnosis (elastography) will be discussed.
